The life of St. Dominic Savio is the focus of the bonus installment in Bishop David M. O’Connell’s #YoungSaint Series. Bishop O’Connell writes:

Dominic Savio, the second of 11 children born to a peasant family in Riva, Italy, was only 15 years old when he died. But his brief life is a powerful example for young people to always be confident in who they are and to realize holiness is achieved by fulfilling the ordinary demands of life in an extraordinary way, always with faith in God.

This series was a special project for the Year of Youth, in which Bishop O’Connell encourages youth to envision sainthood as a goal within reach.

The key, shares the Bishop through the life of these young saints, is how we live as Catholic Christians, keeping Christ at the center of our lives. If you would like to read the entire collection and view videos on many of the saints featured by the Bishop, click here.

In keeping with The Monitor’s established publication schedule, there will be only one issue in July.  In addition to The Monitor’s customary array of news and information, the July 25 issue will include LIVES OF FAITH, the Diocese’s annual celebration of priests, religious and deacons who are marking special anniversaries in 2019. This 50-plus page, full-color magazine will feature in-depth interviews and special coverage of the priests who are marking their 25th and 50th anniversaries of ordination, as well as those who are retiring this year.

The Monitor will continue to publish local, national and world news, as well as many of its regular features on TrentonMonitor.com throughout the month of July.
