A statement from the Diocese of Trenton regarding the Statute of Limitations

The Diocese of Trenton joins with the other Roman Catholic Dioceses of New Jersey in continuing our outreach to victims of clergy sexual abuse.

The Diocese of Trenton joins with the other Roman Catholic Dioceses of New Jersey in continuing our outreach to victims of clergy sexual abuse.  Our goal has been and remains to offer healing and justice to those who have been sexually abused as minors, while making every effort to protect our children and to prevent such abuse from ever happening again within the Catholic Church and its institutions.

Sadly, child sexual abuse is a problem that has found its way into families and nearly every social structure and institution in our culture, well beyond the Catholic Church. The Diocese of Trenton, for its part, remains firm in its commitment to assist victims in their recovery (regardless of when the abuse took place); to remove credibly accused abusers from ministry, and to restore a sense of safety and well-being to all within the Catholic community. We also continue to honor our obligation to report all allegations we receive to law enforcement authorities and to cooperate in any investigation that law enforcement conducts.  May the Lord continue to guide our efforts.
