Today is #GivingTuesday and your chance to help Catholic schools in the Diocese of Trenton!

Go to www.LeadinFaith.org and you’ll find three ways Catholic school supporters can be involved for #GivingTuesday: make a secure monetary contribution, agree to become a volunteer or offer to say a prayer. One-hundred percent of funds will go to the school of a donor’s choice, and there are opportunities for employer matching gifts as well.

The goal is “to come together, build awareness and provide support [for Catholic education],” said Christine Prete, associate director of development operations in the diocesan Department of Development.

Eager to exceed last year’s online donation goals, the Diocese was excited to see that over $19,000 was raised before noon, surpassing last year’s amount of online giving, which totaled around about $17,000. All day long, there has been a steady offering of support for diocesan Catholic schools in the form of financial donations, commitment to volunteering time and prayer offerings from many people in and beyond the Diocese of Trenton.

Thank you to all those who have donated to this special campaign already! The Diocese of Trenton is grateful for your support and involvement as we continue to share that #CatholicSchoolsHaveItAll!

Thank you to all those who have donated to this special campaign already! The Diocese of Trenton is grateful for your support and involvement as we continue to share that #CatholicSchoolsHaveItAll!

If you cannot donate today, we are happy to share that the www.LeadinFaith.org will be running beyond #GivingTuesday. Please prayerfully consider supporting a Catholic school in your local area and help be the change in our Catholic schools.

State residents are being urged to contact their state legislators in opposition to a bill that would force Catholic organizations such as schools, dioceses and social service agencies to offer employees health benefits that violate fundamental Catholic principles.

The bill, S3804/A5508, would eliminate the long-standing exemption in the current state law that protects religious employers from having to provide health insurance coverage for family planning medications, devices and procedures, including abortion inducing drugs and sterilizations.

The New Jersey Catholic Conference, the public policy arm of New Jersey’s Catholic bishops, is urging faithful citizens to make their voices heard by contacting their state senators at Faith in Action.

The bill was introduced in Trenton earlier this year and is up for a vote Dec. 5 in the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee. If it passes, it could go before the full Senate as early as Dec. 16.

Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., has announced the following clergy assignment, effective Dec. 3:
