Bishop promulgates updated set of directives for parishes during pandemic

In an effort to ensure the health of the faithful who attend Masses and other church services in the Diocese of Trenton during the coronavirus pandemic, Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., has issued an update to the Liturgical and Pastoral Directives in a Time of Pandemic first posted last spring.

The updated directives, which the Bishop promulgated Jan. 10, the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, provides measures to assist the clergy in carrying out their roles in connection with liturgical services and other pastoral practices in the Diocese’s 98 parishes. Effective from Feb. 2, the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, through Holy Week 2021, the newly-issued directives extend the dispensation from the obligation of attending Mass on Sundays and holy days until further notice from Bishop O’Connell.

Any restrictions or required action cited in the original directives remain in effect unless specifically mentioned in the Jan. 10 update.
